INTRO:
Ps 22: we have the grevious Shepherd as we view His Pain
Ps 23: we have the
good Shepherd as we view His Provisions
Ps 24: we have the great Shepherd as we view His
Preiminance
Ps25: we have the glorious Shepherd as we view His Personality
We once stood amazed in the Presence of the Nazarene now we sit amused in
the Presence of the Naysayers We need a fresh glimpse of HIM:
1) LEAN ON HIM AS HE POWERS OUR SITUATIONSOur
situations include:)
A) Touching Him
(vs 1 "unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul")
B) Trusting Him
(vs 2a "O God, I trust in thee")
C) Testifying about Him
( vs2 "let me not be ashamed")
D) Tracing Him
(vs 3 "wait on thee")
2) LOOK AT HIM AS HE PILOTS OUR SHIP(the
ships of religion are built in the shipyards of self-righteousness)
(the ships of rebellion
are built in the shipyards of self-justification)
(the ships of reasoning are built in the shipyards of self-pity)
**all these ships will sink, but listen to this:
Fear not the windy tempest wild,thy soul, they shall not
wreck.
lie down and sleep, o weary child, thy Father's on the deck
A) Over Life seas
(vs
4 "shew me thy ways")
B) Thru Life's Storms (vs 4 "teach me thy
paths")
(no matter the: source, force, or course of the
storm)
C) Thru Life's Struggles
(vs
5 "thou art the God of my salvation")
3) LISTEN TO HIM AS HE
PURGES OUR SINS
A) There are youthful sins
(vs 7
"remember the sins of my youth")
B) There are yielding sins
(vs
7b "nor my transgressions")
(when the tendency within
gets married to the temptation without, it produces transgressions)
C) There are yonder sins
(vs 7 "remember thou me for thy
goodness' sake")
4) LEARN FROM HIM AS HE
PROFITS OUR SOUL
A) Thru education
(vs 8 "and will teach sinners in the way")
B) Thru illumination
(vs 10 "paths of mercy and truth")
C) Thru regulation
(vs 13 "His soul shall dwell
at ease")
