Jesus Loves me, This I know
Text: Romans 8: 35 - 39
Intro:
As a child growing up in a Baptist church, I learned a little song that
still sticks with today. It goes like this:

Jesus Loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak, but He is strong

"Love" is a word used so loosely by the world today. Many young
couples will say, "I love you", but sadly to say, they should be saying
"I lust after you". True love will remain long after the thrill of lust has
disappeared. But I believe that real love (agape love) is known only
through an experience of salvation from God. "For God so loved"
still baffles the mind of great theologians. We will never understand
it, but we can experience it. The Bible contains the greatest love
story ever told. Jesus loves me, How do I know, for the Bible tells me
so. How does the Bible tell me so:

I. I KNOW BECAUSE HIS LOVE CANNOT BE CONTAINED

A) The Extent of His love (How far will it reach)(vs 39)
there is no cancellation, no condemnation, no containment
Love grew where the blood fell. This love reaches around the globe;
into the gutters; into the grand palaces and even into the grave
("yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death")

B) The Explanation of His Love (How much can I understand?) (vs37)
("more than conquerors")

1) freely given Was a total sacrifice, and total love
2) free gift must request it, accept it, possess it

C) The Examination of His Love (How much can I experience?) (vs38)
("for I am persuaded")
God's love is:

1) A Powerful message (heard through the impact of sound)
"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound"

2) A Personal message (heard at the moment of salvation)

3) A Partaking message (seen at the moment of sight)
"I was blind, but now I can see"

II. I KNOW BECAUSE HIS LOVE CANNOT BE COMPARED
(vs 35 "who shall separate us from the love of God?)

A) Notice the Power of this verse ("cannot")
To all who believe that they can be lost again after they are saved,
I say, "What part of "cannot" don't you understand?

B) Notice the Person of this verse ("us")
Makes me say, "I love to tell the story of Jesus and His love"
This is a:

1. A story to take
2. A story to tell
3. A story to trust

C) Notice the Passion of this verse ("the love of God")
His love is a boundless, borderless, boundaryless love
His love is an eternal love, which means it will transcend all time and space

III. I KNOW BECAUSE HIS LOVE CANNOT BE CONTROLLED

A) We cannot be charged (vs 33)
B) We cannot be condemned (vs 34)
C) We cannot be controlled (vs 35)
D) We cannot be conquered (vs 37)
E) We cannot be confused (vs 38-39)

CONCLUSION: Jesus loves you, this you can know, if you will
let the Bible tell you so!!!!
