A Sermon Outline By   Chuck Hollowell

PERSONAL FAITH THAT'S NEEDED FOR DELIVERANCE

Matt 9:2,22,29

I. The demonstration of faith (9:2)

A. The house (mk 2:1-2)

We don't know whose house Jesus was in but the crowd knew.

The noise was not about the place, the plan, the program, or the people, but noise was about Jesus.

The noise was about Jesus being in the house. Is it being noise that Jesus is in your heart, home, in the house of God?

B. The healing (Matt 9:2)

1. Jesus dwelt first with the man's pardon (9:2c).

After his forgiveness he was headed to heaven whether he had palsy or not!

2. Then Jesus dwelt with the man's palsy (9:6; PSA 103:3).

C. The Help (Matt 9:2)

NOTE: Out of all the people there, these four were singled out.

They were convinced Jesus could heal their friend.

They had confidence Jesus could heal their friend "when he saw their faith."

There is no mention of how far they had to carry their friend to Jesus (Mk 2:4).

There is no mention of the cost of the roof. Why? because it doesn't matter what it cost to get a sinner saved.

Why was this man forgiven and healed? Because of "their faith."

II. The determination of faith (Matt 9:22)

A. Her disease (mk 5:29) "plague" (Matt 9:20) "issue of blood"

She was as bad off as she could be.

If you are unsaved, you are as bad off as you can be and you can not be any worse than you are right now.

You are a sinner and a sinner has no hope (Eph 2:12).

B. Her despair (Matt 9:20) "twelve years" (Mk 5:26)

She tried to find help, relief, comfort, and peace "and grew worse"

C. Her decision (mk 5:28) (Matt 9:20) "came behind"

She made the decision to touch Jesus and her decision was based on the fact that she heard (Mk5: 27; Matt 9:21).

1. Her conviction (Mk 5:28)

2. Her conversion (Mk 5:29-31)

The multitude thronged him, they bumped him. There is a difference in a bump and a touch. The multitude bumped him, but this women touched him!

She felt it! She knew it! Jesus felt it and He knew it!

3. Her confession (Luke 8:47; Matt 9:22; John 1:12)

I don't know what she died of. I do know what she didn't die of; She didn't die of an issue of blood!

I'm going to die; I don't know what, but I do know I'll never die a sinner, because I'm saved!

You get the real thing, you want never go to hell!

III. The deliverance of faith (Matt 9:29)

A. Their cry (Matt 9:27) "mercy"

B. Their challenge (Matt 9:28) "believe ye..."

1. Their trust in the Lord (vs 28) "yea Lord"

2. The touch from the Lord (vs 29) "according to you faith..."

Jesus gave them a signed blank check! (Mark 11:23-24; Mark 9:23).
